A propos de l'oeuvre

WHEN LEAVES FALL

In When Leaves Fall, JChadima draws upon the marronnier, or horse chestnut tree, a familiar presence in the gardens and streets of Paris, to examine the threshold between botanical representation and abstraction. Its expansive leaves begin their transformation early in the season, shifting through multiple hues and bringing unexpected bursts of colour to the Parisian landscape. This seasonal metamorphosis provides the formal vocabulary for a composition concerned less with description than with rhythm, structure, and transformation.

Through radical cropping and enlargement, JChadima removes the leaves from their conventional spatial context. Their veins, folds, and overlapping surfaces are translated into elongated bands and undulating planes that move diagonally across the canvas. The resulting image retains its botanical origins while approaching abstraction, creating a tension between recognition and pure form.

Colour assumes a structural role. Saturated magentas and deep burgundies are set against ochres, creams, earthen browns, and incisive passages of yellow green. Rather than adhering to naturalistic colour, JChadima heightens and reorganizes the palette, using chromatic contrast to articulate depth and direct the movement of the eye. The composition consequently oscillates between surface and illusionistic space: forms appear alternately to fold inward, project outward, and dissolve into adjacent passages of colour.

The Parisian marronnier serves not simply as subject but as a point of departure. By isolating a transient element of the urban landscape and enlarging it beyond ordinary perception, JChadima shifts attention from the identity of the leaf to its underlying architecture. In When Leaves Fall, the seasonal cycle becomes a formal investigation of movement, impermanence, and the expressive possibilities contained within organic structure.

ENGLISH:
JChadima is a Paris based painter and photographer who continues to exhibit internationally.
He is recognized by the international auction guide "AKOUN" with a certified quotation for the sale of his work and resale evaluations.

Refining his skills and highly creativity from a very young age; JChadima has been exhibiting and selling his work from a very young age.

Born in the United States, JChadima was educated and hold several degrees from the University of Colorado. His unique style and creative vision was nurtured and constructed on a solid foundation with some of the most influential early to mid-century American artists and their former students. Artists like Alfred Stieglitz, Ansel Adams, Georgia O’Keeffe, Arthur Dove and others were directly involved and influential in contributing to JChadima’s artistic foundation.

Employing his expertise in photography JChadima developed the ability to discern and draw inspiration from the world around him. Either it be directly from nature or still life, urban and environmental or current historic influences, the bases of his paintings come directly from the impressions he derives from his photography. An abstraction process occurs seeing beyond the images and analysing line, form, shapes, colors, and textures. Utilizing these aspects, a highly stylized, graphic, colorful pallet study is produced, and the pieces of work come to life.
