T’ETENDRE

T’entendre is the first of two paintings and the larger, establishing the visual and conceptual foundation for the work that followed. Its title, translated from the French as “to hear you,” introduces a deeply personal dimension to a composition that moves fluidly between the recognizable and the abstract.

The inspiration for T’entendre originated during an evening conversation in a favourite Parisian café, where JChadima was surrounded by friends speaking several languages simultaneously. As different languages and conversations overlapped, the artist became acutely aware of the sensation of the ear being filled with sound—and of the challenge of separating, interpreting, and understanding what was being heard. That experience became the conceptual foundation for the painting, transforming the physical act of hearing into a meditation on language, communication, and human connection.

The painting takes the organic structure of the human ear as its point of departure, dramatically enlarging and transforming it into a landscape of sweeping curves, enclosed spaces, and rhythmic passages of colour. At this larger scale, the familiar anatomy becomes something more universal. The ear is no longer simply an observed object; it becomes an environment—an exploration of listening, intimacy, communication, and understanding.

JChadima builds the composition through sensuous, continuous forms that curl inward and unfold outward. Creams, ochres, deep reds, turquoise blues, and near-black passages move against one another with a carefully controlled intensity. Soft transitions of light and shadow give the forms volume, while bold arcs and concentrated areas of colour create an intense sense of movement. The eye is continually drawn inward toward the intricate central forms before being carried outward again along the larger sweeping contours.

There is an intriguing duality within T’entendre. The forms can suggest anatomy, landscape, shells, petals, or other organic structures, yet they resist settling into any single interpretation. This ambiguity allows the painting to operate simultaneously as an intimate study of the body and as an abstract composition of shape, colour, movement, and negative space.

As the first of the two paintings, T’entendre establishes an important theme that JChadima would continue to explore in the smaller T’entendre 2: the transformation of an easily overlooked part of the human form into something monumental and contemplative. The larger scale of this first painting intensifies that experience, inviting the viewer not merely to look at the subject but to enter it visually.

Ultimately, T’entendre is about more than the physical act of hearing. Born from an evening of overlapping voices and languages in Paris, it suggests the more profound act of listening—the desire to understand another person even when words, languages, and sounds compete for our attention.

JChadima est un peintre et photographe basé à Paris qui continue d’exposer à l’international.
Il est reconnu par le guide international des enchères « AKOUN » avec une cotation certifiée pour la vente de ses œuvres et des évaluations à la revente.

Il a développé ses compétences et sa créativité dès son plus plus jeune âge : JChadima expose et vend son travail depuis longtemps aux Etats-Unis.

Né aux USA, JChadima a fait ses études et a été diplômé à l'Université du Colorado. Son style unique et sa vision créative ont été nourris et se sont construits sur de solides bases qu'il doit à des artistes américains parmi les plus influents du début au milieu du siècle dernier, et à certains de leurs anciens étudiants. Quelques-uns de ses professeurs ont été élèves d'artistes comme Georgia O'Keeffe d'abord, mais aussi Alfred Stieglitz et Ansel Adams. Ils ont été directement impliqués et influents dans les racines artistiques de JChadima.

Utilisant son expertise en photographie, JChadima a développé la capacité d’observer les détails et de s'inspirer du monde qui l'entoure.

Que ce soit directement de la nature ou de la nature morte, des influences urbaines et environnementales ou historiques actuelles, les bases de ses peintures proviennent directement des impressions qu'il tire de sa photographie.

Un processus d'abstraction se produit en voyant au-delà des images et en analysant la ligne, la forme, les formes, les couleurs et les textures.

En utilisant ces aspects, une étude de palette hautement stylisée, graphique et colorée est produite, et ses œuvres prennent vie …

JChadima is a Paris based painter and photographer who continues to exhibit internationally.
He is recognized by the international auction guide "AKOUN" with a certified quotation for the sale of his work and resale evaluations.

Refining his skills and highly creativity from a very young age; JChadima has been exhibiting and selling his work from a very young age.

Born in the United States, JChadima was educated and hold several degrees from the University of Colorado. His unique style and creative vision was nurtured and constructed on a solid foundation with some of the most influential early to mid-century American artists and their former students. Artists like Alfred Stieglitz, Ansel Adams, Georgia O’Keeffe, Arthur Dove and others were directly involved and influential in contributing to JChadima’s artistic foundation.

Employing his expertise in photography JChadima developed the ability to discern and draw inspiration from the world around him. Either it be directly from nature or still life, urban and environmental or current historic influences, the bases of his paintings come directly from the impressions he derives from his photography. An abstraction process occurs seeing beyond the images and analysing line, form, shapes, colors, and textures. Utilizing these aspects, a highly stylized, graphic, colorful pallet study is produced, and the pieces of work come to life.
