About the artwork
SPRINGTIME IN PARIS 6
In Springtime in Paris 6, JChadima advances the visual language of the Springtime in Paris series, transforming botanical observation into a sensuous investigation of colour, form, and perception. Developed from the artist’s photographic studies of flowers and plant life encountered in Paris, the painting moves beyond conventional floral still life through radical magnification and cropping, allowing the natural subject to hover between representation and abstraction.
Colour is fundamental to the painting’s construction. Rather than defining forms through hard boundaries, JChadima employs subtle gradations and controlled blending, allowing one hue to fall almost imperceptibly into another. Whites dissolve into blush pinks and lavender; subdued greens migrate toward yellow and chartreuse; cool grey-violets are edged by unexpected passages of magenta. These chromatic transitions create an atmospheric depth in which forms appear simultaneously to advance, recede, fold, and emerge.
The blending technique gives the composition an unusual fluidity. Colour does not simply fill the botanical forms; it becomes instrumental in creating them. Tonal gradations model the curvature of petals and leaves, while softened transitions blur the distinction between one form and the next. Against these passages, concentrations of heightened colour act almost as illumination, articulating edges and drawing the eye through the composition. The result is a surface that feels less constructed from separate elements than one in which colour continually transforms into form, and form dissolves back into colour.
In its magnification of organic structure and its movement between botanical recognition and abstraction, Springtime in Paris 6 recalls the work of Georgia O'Keeffe and Arthur Dove, both American modernists and pioneering abstract painters. The affinity lies not in imitation, but in a shared impulse to move beyond literal representation and discover within nature an independent visual language of shape, rhythm, colour, and sensation.
Within the broader Springtime in Paris series, Springtime in Paris 6 exemplifies JChadima’s sustained investigation into the act of seeing. Through enlargement, chromatic gradation, and the dissolution of conventional boundaries, the painting asks the viewer to encounter the familiar anew revealing the extraordinary complexity and quiet beauty inherent in forms so familiar that they might otherwise be taken for granted, overlooked, or passed by unnoticed.

Interview by Karen Marin, Independent Editor Consulting Advisor for Essenencional and friend of the artist (Second part in French).
JChadima is an American painter and photographer living in Paris.
He developed his skills and creativity from a very young age: JChadima has been exhibiting and selling his work for a long time in the United States.
Born in the USA, JChadima studied and graduated from the University of Colorado. His unique style and creative vision were nurtured and built upon a solid foundation by some of the most influential American artists of the early to mid-century, and some of their former students. Some of his teachers were students of artists such as Georgia O'Keeffe first, but also Alfred Stieglitz and Ansel Adams. They were directly involved and influential in JChadima's artistic roots.
Using her expertise in photography, JChadima developed the ability to observe details and draw inspiration from the world around her.
Whether directly from nature or still life, from current urban and environmental or historical influences, the bases of his paintings come directly from the impressions he draws from his photography.
A process of abstraction occurs by seeing beyond images and analyzing line, shape, shapes, colors and textures.
This work produces a highly stylized, graphic and colorful palette, and his works come to life...
