About the artwork
SPRINGTIME IN PARIS 20 (WITH BROWN EDGES)
With Brown Edges transforms the intimate structure of a flower into an immersive study of form, colour, and quiet movement. By moving close to the subject, JChadima removes the flower from its conventional botanical context and invites the viewer to experience it as a composition of sweeping curves, layered surfaces, and subtle transitions of light.
Luminous fields of yellow and yellow green dominate the composition, unfolding outward from a complex gathering of petals at the center. Creamy whites and soft greys temper the intensity of the colour, while the distinctive brown edges trace portions of the petals with warmth and definition. These understated borders become an essential part of the painting’s visual language, revealing the natural imperfections and transitions that give the flower its individuality.
At this enlarged scale, the petals take on an almost sculptural presence. They bend, overlap, recede, and emerge, creating a sense of movement that draws the eye toward the intricate center and then outward again. What begins as a recognizable flower gradually shifts toward abstraction: folds become contours, shadows become depth, and the brown-edged petals become pathways that guide us through the composition.
In With Brown Edges, JChadima asks us to reconsider details that might easily be dismissed as incidental or imperfect. The brown edges are not flaws to be overlooked, but part of the flower’s beauty and character. Through magnification and careful observation, the painting reveals the extraordinary within the ordinary offering a quiet reminder that nature’s beauty often resides not in perfection, but in the subtle variations that make each form unique,

Interview by Karen Marin, Independent Editor Consulting Advisor for Essenencional and friend of the artist (Second part in French).
JChadima is an American painter and photographer living in Paris.
He developed his skills and creativity from a very young age: JChadima has been exhibiting and selling his work for a long time in the United States.
Born in the USA, JChadima studied and graduated from the University of Colorado. His unique style and creative vision were nurtured and built upon a solid foundation by some of the most influential American artists of the early to mid-century, and some of their former students. Some of his teachers were students of artists such as Georgia O'Keeffe first, but also Alfred Stieglitz and Ansel Adams. They were directly involved and influential in JChadima's artistic roots.
Using her expertise in photography, JChadima developed the ability to observe details and draw inspiration from the world around her.
Whether directly from nature or still life, from current urban and environmental or historical influences, the bases of his paintings come directly from the impressions he draws from his photography.
A process of abstraction occurs by seeing beyond images and analyzing line, shape, shapes, colors and textures.
This work produces a highly stylized, graphic and colorful palette, and his works come to life...
