SPRINGTIME IN PARIS 12

Closely related to Springtime in Paris 13, the painting is distinguished by its calm, restrained palette and expansive passages of softly modulated form. The botanical source remains perceptible, yet magnification and cropping transform the flower into a contemplative composition poised between representation and abstraction.

The palette is deliberately subdued yet luxurious and distinctly modern. Pearlescent white, ivory, pale blush, dusty rose, muted mauve, taupe, and deep umber establish a sophisticated tonal harmony that is markedly removed from the more vivid greens, yellows, and heightened contrasts found elsewhere in the series.
