Original painting made with inks on canvas. The subject depicts a surreal New York, imagined under a predominantly lunar light where the skyscrapers take on the appearance of shiny and iridescent transparent minerals. This is what characterizes this rather rare technique and which in this case becomes functional to the elements that make up the subject. The artist constructed the image using an angular perspective with two vanishing points; and created a kind of backlight by placing a series of shadowed skyscrapers in the foreground and background that contrast with the lunar glow at the center of the composition. No one appears; the aim is to enhance the colors and light in a surrealist vision. Signed and dated on the front. Excellent condition.

About the artist Davide Rodoquino

Diploma in painting obtained from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna, Italy in 1987. Subsequent experience of outdoor painting in various locations in Italy, notably on Lake Como where the artist remained for long periods.
Here the artist improved his experience in the study of the living subject and the study of the colors and lights offered by the landscape.

In 1992 he emigrated to the United States where he began exhibiting oil paintings on canvas in galleries in the Washington DC metropolitan area.
At the same time, he began his experience in trompe-l'oeil mural painting for public and private places, undertaking activities as an independent using the acrylic technique.
In 2002 he moved to New York where he stayed for 10 years. In the Big Apple he continued to work professionally as a successful painter of trompe l'oeil and easel paintings.
This experience allowed him to improve his skills as a landscaper, and also gave him the opportunity to gain visibility and recognition within the cultural and artistic industry, since the places he decorated are visited by Hollywood actors, directors and international rock stars.

Back in Italy, he continued to paint on canvas, experimenting with various techniques including oil, acrylic, inks, soft pastels and watercolor. The most recent paintings show a little-known but highly appreciated ink on canvas technique with a good impact. In January 2024, an article on the artist's biography was published in the New York magazine "Zone NY Magazine" which deals with artistic and cultural events
of this city.
