About the artwork

Kigali, majestic and serene, stands out against a textured urban backdrop. Her deep gaze and upright posture embody inner strength and natural beauty. The draped fabric, with its rich and colorful patterns blending warm tones, ethnic prints, and modern touches, symbolizes cultural heritage and boundless creativity.

Every detail of this work evokes the balance between tradition and modernity, sobriety and brilliance.

About the artist Françoise Schmidt

Self-taught, I have been drawing and painting since childhood.
My background as a teacher of young children allows me to explore the visual arts in all its forms and complexities. With this young audience, I discovered the little pieces of paper that we throw away, store, collect, and recycle. I use these pieces of text, words, and images to construct colorful worlds imbued with lightness and poetry.

Like the mix of cultures, I love the blending of materials, tools, and techniques. I use acrylic paint, spray paint, smoothing compound, sand, stencils, stamps, and of course, paper.

My collection "Homage to the Women of the World" is the culmination of a long journey of discovery, plastic experimentation, my attraction to fashion and the creation of clothing.

I invite you to enter this universe and let yourself be carried away by your emotions and feelings.
