About the artwork
GREEN TREE
Green Tree originates in the winter landscape of Paris, where the subdued atmosphere of cold, rain, and muted urban colour is interrupted by the unexpected persistence of green. Rather than depicting a specific tree in literal terms, JChadima isolates this encounter between seasonal austerity and living colour, transforming it into an abstract study of form, light, and spatial relationships.
The composition is structured through a series of elongated organic forms that rise vertically through the image. A vivid green stem-like element provides the principal structural axis, cutting through fields of cool blue, pale grey, cream, and soft yellow. Its saturated colour creates a striking visual tension against the quieter surrounding tones, suggesting the vitality of vegetation within an otherwise restrained winter environment.
The simplified forms overlap and intersect, creating an ambiguous space in which branches, trunks, sky, and surrounding architecture become difficult to distinguish. Curved contours establish a gentle rhythm across the composition, while areas of open, pale colour function as negative space, allowing the central green form to emerge with clarity. The result is less a depiction of a tree than an investigation into how a fragment of nature can alter our perception of an entire environment.
JChadima’s approach draws from an impressionistic sensitivity to fleeting visual experience but translates that experience through abstraction. Colour becomes detached from strict representation and instead functions as an emotional and structural device. The unexpected green is not simply botanical—it becomes a symbol of persistence, vitality, and the quiet presence of nature within the urban landscape.
The tension between winter's subdued palette and the luminous green gives the work its expressive character. A moment that might otherwise pass unnoticed—a patch of living colour on a cold Parisian day—is transformed into a meditation on resilience and perception.
Green Tree reflects JChadima’s continuing interest in discovering the extraordinary within familiar surroundings. By reducing the observed landscape to essential forms and relationships, the painting shifts attention from the specific tree to the experience of seeing it: a brief encounter with nature that interrupts the ordinary and creates a moment of visual awakening.
“A fragment of green becomes a quiet act of resilience within the winter landscape.”

Interview by Karen Marin, Independent Editor Consulting Advisor for Essenencional and friend of the artist (Second part in French).
JChadima is an American painter and photographer living in Paris.
He developed his skills and creativity from a very young age: JChadima has been exhibiting and selling his work for a long time in the United States.
Born in the USA, JChadima studied and graduated from the University of Colorado. His unique style and creative vision were nurtured and built upon a solid foundation by some of the most influential American artists of the early to mid-century, and some of their former students. Some of his teachers were students of artists such as Georgia O'Keeffe first, but also Alfred Stieglitz and Ansel Adams. They were directly involved and influential in JChadima's artistic roots.
Using her expertise in photography, JChadima developed the ability to observe details and draw inspiration from the world around her.
Whether directly from nature or still life, from current urban and environmental or historical influences, the bases of his paintings come directly from the impressions he draws from his photography.
A process of abstraction occurs by seeing beyond images and analyzing line, shape, shapes, colors and textures.
This work produces a highly stylized, graphic and colorful palette, and his works come to life...
