DIGITALIS

Digitalis originates in close observation of the foxglove, with its distinctive vertical growth and rhythmic arrangement of organic forms providing the foundation for the composition. Rather than approaching the plant through botanical description, JChadima isolates its essential structures and transforms them into an abstract investigation of line, colour, movement, and spatial rhythm.

The composition is built from elongated, flowing forms that rise and curve through the picture plane. Broad leaf-like shapes overlap and fold into one another, creating a continuous movement between foreground and background. The characteristic vertical rhythm of the foxglove remains perceptible, yet the botanical structure is fragmented and reconfigured, allowing individual forms to function as autonomous elements within the composition.

A palette of earthy greens, ochres, warm yellows, muted olive tones, and soft violet establishes the painting's visual atmosphere. The greens dominate the composition, creating a sense of organic density and growth, while the warmer ochre and yellow passages introduce light and tonal variation. Small areas of pale lavender provide a cooler counterpoint, interrupting the dominant earth tones and creating subtle chromatic tension.

JChadima’s treatment of the foxglove moves deliberately between recognition and abstraction. The natural forms are simplified and enlarged, while their contours become sweeping gestures across the canvas. Colour is used not simply to describe the plant but to articulate depth, movement, and the changing relationships between overlapping forms.

The close-up perspective further removes the work from conventional botanical representation. Leaves, stems, and floral structures become almost architectural, creating an ambiguous spatial environment in which positive and negative forms continuously shift. The viewer is encouraged to experience the painting through its rhythm and movement rather than searching for a literal representation of the plant.

At the centre of the work is the idea that observation becomes transformation. The foxglove provides the underlying structure, but JChadima’s process moves beyond what is observed. Line, form, colour, and texture are extracted from nature and reorganized into a visual language that suggests growth and movement without illustrating them directly.

Digitalis reflects JChadima’s continuing fascination with the organic geometry of the natural world. A familiar plant becomes the starting point for an exploration of how abstraction can reveal something beyond botanical identity—the rhythm of growth, the tension between structure and fluidity, and the quiet energy contained within living forms.

JChadima est un peintre et photographe basé à Paris qui continue d’exposer à l’international.
Il est reconnu par le guide international des enchères « AKOUN » avec une cotation certifiée pour la vente de ses œuvres et des évaluations à la revente.

Il a développé ses compétences et sa créativité dès son plus plus jeune âge : JChadima expose et vend son travail depuis longtemps aux Etats-Unis.

Né aux USA, JChadima a fait ses études et a été diplômé à l'Université du Colorado. Son style unique et sa vision créative ont été nourris et se sont construits sur de solides bases qu'il doit à des artistes américains parmi les plus influents du début au milieu du siècle dernier, et à certains de leurs anciens étudiants. Quelques-uns de ses professeurs ont été élèves d'artistes comme Georgia O'Keeffe d'abord, mais aussi Alfred Stieglitz et Ansel Adams. Ils ont été directement impliqués et influents dans les racines artistiques de JChadima.

Utilisant son expertise en photographie, JChadima a développé la capacité d’observer les détails et de s'inspirer du monde qui l'entoure.

Que ce soit directement de la nature ou de la nature morte, des influences urbaines et environnementales ou historiques actuelles, les bases de ses peintures proviennent directement des impressions qu'il tire de sa photographie.

Un processus d'abstraction se produit en voyant au-delà des images et en analysant la ligne, la forme, les formes, les couleurs et les textures.

En utilisant ces aspects, une étude de palette hautement stylisée, graphique et colorée est produite, et ses œuvres prennent vie …

JChadima is a Paris based painter and photographer who continues to exhibit internationally.
He is recognized by the international auction guide "AKOUN" with a certified quotation for the sale of his work and resale evaluations.

Refining his skills and highly creativity from a very young age; JChadima has been exhibiting and selling his work from a very young age.

Born in the United States, JChadima was educated and hold several degrees from the University of Colorado. His unique style and creative vision was nurtured and constructed on a solid foundation with some of the most influential early to mid-century American artists and their former students. Artists like Alfred Stieglitz, Ansel Adams, Georgia O’Keeffe, Arthur Dove and others were directly involved and influential in contributing to JChadima’s artistic foundation.

Employing his expertise in photography JChadima developed the ability to discern and draw inspiration from the world around him. Either it be directly from nature or still life, urban and environmental or current historic influences, the bases of his paintings come directly from the impressions he derives from his photography. An abstraction process occurs seeing beyond the images and analysing line, form, shapes, colors, and textures. Utilizing these aspects, a highly stylized, graphic, colorful pallet study is produced, and the pieces of work come to life.
