About the artist Sofiia Samodelkina

Sofiia Samodelkina is a traditional wildlife artist from Finland. As is often the case with other creators, she has been interested in art from an early age, and the main subject of her work has always been wildlife, a subject she is genuinely passionate about. Working usually in watercolour, she aims to capture animals in a realistic style, appreciating the beauty that living beings naturally possess and rendering their unique features gently and as they are. She admires the diversity of nature and tries to bring attention to it so that it becomes more noticeable and more appreciated. She also believes that art is shaped both by what we create and by what we see, and that artists hold a conversation with their audience through their work, though how people perceive it depends on what they are open to and ready to notice. Carrying that thought with her, she paints in the hope of showing people the beauty of the world we live in, and in turn encouraging them to notice, appreciate and protect nature more.
