Ntifafa Nyakossi is a self-taught, multidisciplinary artist whose practice is primarily anchored in contemporary mosaics. Her unique artistic universe is rooted in a deep fascination with giraffe women, emblematic figures present in both Burma and South Africa.
Drawn to these slender silhouettes and the symbolism they convey, she embarked on an introspective journey that led her to create her own interpretations of these women. Gradually, these figures evolved and became the "Long-Necked Beings," hybrid and poetic entities, true emblems of her work.
Through her mosaics, Ntifafa explores questions of identity, femininity and transformation, blending fragments, textures and colours to tell powerful, sensitive and deeply human stories.
