About the artist Rzyski Christian

Rzyski Christian is a Belgian miniature painter and a Signature Member of the Miniature Artists of America. Born in Charleroi, Belgium, in 1955, he trained and worked as an architectural drafter. He has worked with gouache since the age of eight and developed his personal technique at around seventeen. Following a period producing comic books between 1984 and 1991, he returned to gouache painting, obsessed with precision and continually refining his technique for miniaturisation. A turning point came in 1996 with an exhibition at the Société des Artistes Français in Paris, which opened international doors to his miniature painting, particularly in the United States. His main subjects are medieval architecture, landscapes and animals. Self-taught in his fine art practice, his hyper-realistic miniature gouache style is marked by a subtle vibrancy, breathtaking realism and complete mastery of a medium often relegated to a rudimentary level. Applied on black paper, gouache generates exceptional luminosity that illuminates architectural forms of the past. He has received over 120 international awards, among them Best of Show at the W.F.M. World Exhibition in 2008 for Notre-Dame de Paris.
