About the artist Alexis Celona

Alexis Celona is a Canadian artist based in Victoria, British Columbia. She grew up in Vancouver before spending thirteen years in Spain and France, travelling widely during that period to India, New Orleans and New York. She has worked as a professional graphic artist for thirty years, and her commissioned work spans websites, posters, commercial advertising and the illustrations for the graphic novel Nightfreight. Alongside her own practice, she has taught painting to adults in oils, acrylics and mixed media for ten years, and has run Arts in Education classes for children in the public school system. For nine years she served as Arts Administrator for the Victoria Arts Council, where she ran a full gallery alongside programmes with Indigenous Peoples, women artists, children, and both professional and emerging artists. She is the author of Color Theory at its Simplest, a guide covering every aspect of colour theory in clear, concise language with illustrations that demonstrate each concept, written to be equally valuable to children and adults.
