About the artist Mailys Pierard
Maïlys PIERARD was born in Toulouse in 1957. A graduate of Applied Arts Duperré in Paris, she began her career in the world of textiles1 which she abandoned for that of Table Arts. Since 2010, Maïlys has combined Applied Arts and Painting.
Too many constraints linked to the industry have given rise to this need to create much more freely. Maïlys exhibits regularly in Paris where she lives, and in Normandy.
In her paintings Maïlys seeks to express energy, strength and movement.
“I put all my creative strength into my work and constantly move towards new horizons, possible thanks to the new techniques (engravings, monotypes) and supports that I discover. I am truly passionate.”
An obvious modernity emerges from Maïlys’ work. The synergy between colors and shapes, like imprints, reflects the dynamism of a universe that can be interpreted as marine: the sea, the waves, the wind. Everything is up to personal interpretation of course.
At the same time, the ease of reading the work brings real serenity. This is what seduces us and takes us on this journey.
The contrast of black and the transparencies of colors bring elegance and harmony. The use of varied techniques, engraving, acrylic and ink, reflects all of Maïlys' creativity.
