About the artist Oleksandr Koltsov

Oleksandr Koltsov is a Ukrainian artist whose work can be defined as a visualisation of the movement of energies, sensations, emotional states and processes, expressed through abstract details, symbolic images and silhouettes set against realistic backgrounds. He specialises in painting and mixed media, creating works that are both innovative and original. He draws inspiration from a range of sources, among them nature, music, literature, travel and conversation with interesting people, transferring those impressions and emotions into works that carry his inner worldview. His paintings combine symbols, encrypted elements and visual effects intended to reach the subconscious, to fill the viewer with energy and to evoke associations that are individual to each person. He has taken part in international plein airs, festivals and competitions, and has shown painting and graphics at world-class exhibitions. His work is held in galleries and private collections in Great Britain, the United States, Germany, Poland, Ukraine and Australia, and in museums of contemporary art in France and Mexico.
