About the artwork

About the artist Alexandra Ghimisi

Alexandra Ghimisi is an international visual artist based in Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom. She graduated from the National University of Arts Bucharest in 2008 with a BA (Hons) in Decorative Arts, developing a strong foundation in visual arts, composition and design. Working primarily in acrylic, she explores themes of landscape, atmosphere, memory and emotional connection to place. She is a Fellow of the Nottingham Society of Artists and a member of the Visual Artists Association, the National Acrylic Painters' Association, and Mondial Art Academia in France. Alongside her practice she works as an Art Tutor at Inspire Culture and Libraries, and she is the founder of Forge Art Gallery, with experience as both mentor and curator. She is also a member of AXIS and Engage, movements through which artists share practice and bring change through collective influence. Her work has been selected for the London Biennale and ING Discerning Eye 2025, and exhibited at Mall Galleries and the Saatchi Gallery in London and the European Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona. In 2026 she won Sky Landscape Artist of the Year as a Wild Card.
