Kerstin Viktoria Krusell

传

Kerstin Viktoria Krusell is a Swedish contemporary artist known for vibrant, emotionally charged abstract and semi-abstract paintings. She holds a Master's degree in Fine Arts from Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, studied at the Gustavus Primus Fine Art School in Göteborg, and holds a Bachelor's degree in Aesthetics, Philosophy and History of Literature from Uppsala University. Her work is defined by a luminous colour palette and expressive, flowing brushwork that bridges the space between imagination and reality. She describes her paintings as a kind of short novel, in which fictional characters, most often horse figures, meet within scenes that describe interpersonal relationships. These playful spaces carefully hold fairy tales, symbols and objects from distant worlds, perhaps prototypes drawn from the subconscious. The visual language is inspired by objects from ancient Chinese culture, powerful ceramic horses and thin, beautiful bowls, the bowls becoming symbols of secret content, of a gift, of life, hope and dreams. Her work has been exhibited in Paris, New York, San Francisco, London, Milan, Bergamo, Beijing, Copenhagen, Germany and throughout Sweden.
