BIOGRAPHY

Painting is a material and spiritual journey that I take around my first passions, the mountains, water, sailing, the sea and music.

Alain Abramatic was born in Montbéliard in Doubs (France) in 1956. Interested in painting by his parents very early on, he began painting during his high school years and exhibited for the first time in 1974. He trained with other painters who introduced him first to oil painting then to watercolor and finally to contemporary techniques using mixed media. His first works were very inspired by the vibration of colors among the Impressionists and Fauvists. With watercolor he began to enjoy working on transparencies. Finally, around the 2000s, the discovery of contemporary techniques allowed him to develop a very personal style based on gesture and textures.

Indeed, by preparing his canvases with collages of paper and sand, he creates textures where the paint, very diluted like watercolors, reacts by drainage or diffusion to leave its own mark.

Through the gesture he prints the energies. Through the softness of the transparencies and the relationship with the void it inscribes the emotions. Each painting thus invites a poetic journey.

To fully immerse himself in each subject he works in series around a theme such as sailing, the sea, the mountains, landscapes and also portraits and abstraction.
